Donald Trump has once again declared he would urge FIFA to pull upcoming World Cup matches from a host city based on the local governance, with the Boston region becoming the third targeted location to face such warnings from the US president. Moreover, Trump remarked he would evaluate similar action against Southern California for the upcoming Olympic Games due to potential public safety risks.

While Trump holds no formal power to directly relocate either competition, he can lobby the international organizations in charge of each event to move venues.

His statements were made during a press event with Javier Milei, who was present in the presidential residence following the revelation of a $20 billion bailout for the Argentine nation. Toward the close of the event, a media member inquired Trump about a current “street takeover” in Boston where police officers were attacked and a patrol car was ignited. The journalist also questioned if these incidents could cause the revocation of tournament responsibilities for the larger football competition.

“We could take them away,” he remarked concerning the soccer fixtures, scheduled to be held at Gillette Stadium. “She is poor … she’s extremist, and they’re dominating areas of Boston. It's a significant claim, right?”

Unauthorized gatherings, a online-fueled phenomenon where groups of people congregate on city streets during nighttime to conduct vehicular acrobatics, have become a ongoing nuisance in metropolitan centers since the lockdown shutdowns. Recent such gatherings have become aggressive in the region, notably in Boston. However, these events are typically not regarded as tied to any particular ideological group.

“If a mayor is performing poorly, and I perceive there are unsafe conditions, I would call Gianni [Infantino], who is excellent, and tell him let’s move it to a different city,” the former president stated publicly. “He will do that. He may not enjoy the action, but he would comply. Without hesitation, he would.”

The organization's head has made no secret his efforts to be closely connected with the US leader prior to the upcoming World Cup, planned to be hosted in 11 cities across the America along with a couple in the northern neighbor and three in Mexico. The head has been present at multiple White House events, facilitated Trump hand over the Club World Cup cup after the championship match, and has even postponed his FIFA's internal meeting to join Trump on a trip to the Arab region previously.

This has not stopped, Trump from warning about the relocation of FIFA World Cup matches from additional American venues. Recently, the Washington city and the Bay Area metropolis came under comparable statements, with Trump claiming both cities were “run by far-left extremists who lack understanding what they're managing,” while criticizing the security conditions of both areas and suggesting that events could be relocated.

Victor Montagliani rejected Trump’s claims when he responded subsequently at a event in London.

“It is the organization's event, under our authority, we decide those decisions,” Montagliani declared. “Respectfully to current world leaders, soccer is more important than them and soccer will survive their administration and their policies.
